Effective January 1, 2024 Google is depreciating the usage of the Google Review API. This means that the steps guests will take to submit a review after taking a survey have changed.
Currently, google allows guests to publish reviews straight from a 3rd party survey and this will no longer be the case.
Going forward widget API integrations will open a new Google Maps or Google Search window for posting a review- this will be equivalent to embedding Google Business Profile review links in your web apps, and will still allow users to write reviews. But features such as pre-filling text content, and Javascript callbacks for completion, will no longer be supported.
The new format for Guest Flow will be as follows:
Guests will complete their survey and then click the submit button
The thank you screen will display a link to write a review on Google.
Guests will be directed to Google and a pop-up will appear, where they will be able to rate your hotel, write a review, and submit it.
