Contact List Upload Formats and Limitations
- The maximum number of contacts you can upload in one csv file is 100,000. A contact list can have more than 100,000 records overtime, but only 100,000 contacts can be added per upload.
- Format of the must be CSV with the file delimiter set to be commas.
- Revinate's system will enforce some rules to make sure you can get a successful import. First, you need to save your mapping. You can't click "save mapping" for a Contact List until all issues in red are corrected. For example, there is a header row which requires that "header" option to be checked before the mapping can be saved. In addition, the mapping must be saved before "complete list import" can be clicked.
How do I add more contacts to an existing Contact List?
To add new members to a contact list click on the Contact List that needs to be updated:
Once you have opened the specific Contact List page, click on the "Add Contact to List" button on the top right:
This will open a contact list form to manually add to the existing contact list.
For multiple contact addition, click on the "Need to upload multiple profiles in a csv" link on this page. You can now upload the CSV UTF8 file to add on to the existing contact list. Follow the steps in this article.
When you start a contact list import, you don’t have to wait for the import to finish. Revinate will queue the list import to process in the background, allowing you to continue your work while Revinate imports behind the scenes.
Once the contact list import starts, you’ll get a message that says: “<List name> queued for import! A notification email will be sent once list import is complete”. When the import is done, you will be notified via email. You can also check the status from the Contact List page.
- Note that a newly imported email list can’t be used in a Campaign until the import is completed. Also, a larger file with 100,000 contacts can take up to four hours to complete.
What happens when two or more records with the same email address are included in the same non-guest list file? Which row gets processed?
In the deduplication process, are the values case sensitive?
For all incoming records, if duplicate records share the same value in (first name), (last name) and (email), are these will be merged as 1 and rolled up under one Guest Rich Profile independent of whether CAPS is used.
Currently, the deduplication process isn't case sensitive. TIM LEE should be the same as Tim Lee, and email addresses like TIM@GMAIL.COM are the same as email@example.com.
How do I rename a Contact List?
To rename a contact list click the 'Actions' button located on the right-hand side of the contact row> scroll down and select the 'Rename list'.
Note: you can’t use an existing email list name, as it would be confusing to look up the list later for sending out a campaign. The system will warn you when the email list name is already being used.
How do I delete a Contact List?
To delete a contact list click the 'Actions' button located on the right-hand side of the contact row> scroll down and select the 'Delete list'. This action cannot be undone so make sure this is the file you want to delete.
