Revinate Marketing users have the ability to send marketing campaigns to non-guest visitors to your hotel. You will be able to easily segment visitors to your restaurant or spa, sending them the same targeted communications you can to overnight guests. Your guest database contains all guest profiles from your property management system as well as your manually uploaded contact lists. Contact lists are simple to upload via an API connection or CSV.
Adding a contact list
First, hover over "GUESTS AND SEGMENTS" at the top of the page. Then select the option, "CONTACT LIST":
This page will display all the current lists you have uploaded to Revinate Marketing. Here you can also create a new contact list or update older ones; for example, a list of your recent spa guests in order to send targeted campaigns with a specific spa-themed offer for their next visit.
To upload a new list, select the option in the upper right-hand corner of the page labeled CREATE CONTACT LIST:
Enter a name for your new list in the field provided and select the file you wish to upload.
At the Corporate or Property level:
In creating a contact list upload you will need to choose if this will be an automated API connection or a manual CSV upload.
When Selecting CSV file uploads there are some important things to keep in mind for a successful upload of your contact list files.
- The file MUST be a csv file and have the delimiter as a "comma". Check your file first - if the delimiter is anything but a comma, then you will need to update your file. For example, if the delimiter is a semi-colon, run a find and replace function to find any semi-colons and replace with a colon.
- If you are uploading a contact list that has special characters, please make sure that the file is saved in UTF-8 format. Otherwise, the special characters will not import successfully.
- The following email addresses will be skipped from being imported 'test@', 'no-reply@', 'noreply@'. If any email address in the first five columns includes one of these email addresses, the file will not import.
You must map the email field when uploading a contact list or else the list will not recognize the upload as successful.
Contact List User Defined Fields
Contact lists may have user-defined fields so that you are not limited to predefined fields. You may create fields such as anniversary dates, pets (yes/no) or company. For details on setting up a Contact List with user-defined fields see out supporting article here.
**UDF fields do not replace or merge PMS data.
A field labeled ‘stay date’ is not the same as PMS data for stay date. You may label a field as stay data but automated emails will not be triggered based on contact list user-defined data.
Segmenting by User Defined Fields
Note that asterisks will denote what fields are user-defined fields and can be part of the segment builder. This way when making segments it will be simple to understand what you can segment on.
Rich Guest Profiles
In the rich guest profile under the profile>personal section user-defined field will be noted under the Other section
Adding a new contact to an existing contact list
New contacts or ‘members’ can be added to every list at any time. First, select a contact list and click on the “add contact to list” button.
Individual guests and profiles can be added to a contact list by opening a specific list and selecting to add a new contact. This will open a page where you can input all of that contact’s information.
In an interaction at the property, a guest asks to be added to their spa email list. This feature allows the guest to be easily added to specific lists for segmentation and email campaigns. Front desk or concierge staff can have the ‘add contact to list’ page open and ready to add any new members to their respective lists quickly and easily.
Once you have created your list, you will have the ability to send marketing emails to these lists from the "Marketing" tab under "Campaigns".
In Step 2, select the "Contact List" option and select the appropriate list from the drop-down menu. This will ensure that you send your targeted message to the correct group of guests.
